Context

A mobile banking concept developed within a confidential financial-services project.

Mission

Explore how everyday banking could become clearer, more contextual and more proactive.

Challenge

Banking interfaces often contain large amounts of information, but users still need to quickly answer three simple questions:

Where do I stand? What needs my attention? What can I do next?

DESIGN FOCUS

The concept was shaped around three core user needs:

Understand

Make financial information easier to understand at a glance.

Act

Make relevant actions easier to discover and complete.

Plan

Help users anticipate and engage with their financial future.

The Problems Identified

01 — High cognitive load

Important information competes with secondary content, making the overview harder to scan.

02 — Low visibility of future expenses

Users can see what has happened, but upcoming obligations are less apparent.

03 — Reactive rather than proactive

Traditional banking experiences primarily explain the past instead of helping users plan what comes next.

These three issues became the foundation for the design strategy.

01 — PERSONALIZED OVERVIEW

Make the important visible.

Challenge

Users need to understand their financial position quickly.

Design decision

A modular overview brings balance, spending insights, upcoming activity and personal goals into one prioritized experience.

Key features

  • Financial status at a glance (1)
  • Contextual guidance (2)
  • Flexible overview (3)

02 — CONTEXT-CENTRIC UX

Put actions where they become relevant.

Challenge

Relevant actions can become disconnected from the information that triggers them.

Design decision

Contextual shortcuts and actions are surfaced directly within the overview and transaction flows.

Key features

  • Easy access to common actions (4)
  • Clear recipient information (5)
  • Focused transaction flows (6)

03 — GAMIFIED FINANCIAL GOALS

Turn financial goals into visible progress.

Challenge

Long-term financial goals can feel disconnected from everyday banking.

Design decision

Personal goals, saving suggestions and progress indicators are integrated into the everyday experience.

Key features

  • Personal goals (7)
  • Saving suggestions (8)
  • Visible progress (9)

A COHERENT EXPERIENCE ACROSS FLOWS

The same visual language, hierarchy and interaction patterns extend across the core banking experience — from overview to cards and transactions.

THE RESULTING EXPERIENCE

Clarity

Financial status and important information become easier to scan at a glance.

Context

Relevant actions appear closer to the information that makes them useful.

Proactivity

Goals, upcoming expenses and guidance become part of everyday financial behaviour.

Due to client confidentiality, proprietary research, validation data and client-specific outcomes cannot be disclosed.
