Vox 11 is a rhythmic vocal ensemble with deep roots in Jutland, singing together since 2002. Home for Christmas was their third album, and I was asked to draw the cover.

Why an elephant?
Every Dane of a certain age knows the elephant on wheels: it belongs to Lille Per in the classic family film Far til fire, which has its own Christmas singalong scene. Vox 11 had already adopted it as their Christmas mascot, wheeling a stuffed elephant onto the stage at their Christmas concerts. So it had to be on the cover.
The work
I made all the illustrations for the release: front, back and disc. The whole package is built as one big Christmas tree, with dense pine branches covering every surface.
Front:
The title sits on a snowy wooden sign above the elephant on wheels, peeking out from the branches like it was just pulled out from under the tree.

Back:
The tracklist hangs in the branches next to a microphone and a bauble, and the bonus track gets its own gift tag.

Disc:
The disc carries the pine branches and the snowy sign all the way round. Lift it out, and there’s a blue Christmas bauble underneath, hanger and all, with the credits written inside.

Ten years later
In December 2025, the band celebrated the album’s 10th birthday, with some of the songs close to 20,000 plays on Spotify.
